Accused in a 4/03 lawsuit of spanking and caressing the bare buttocks of a boy , age 11,on a trip to West Point in 1967. Later attempts to molest the boy “occurred in the sacristy, the bell tower and in defendant’s car.” At the time of the alleged abuse, was Director of the Capuchins’ St Francis Retreat House, across the Hudson from West Point. For many years, celebrated Mass at St Barnabas. In addition to the Rockville Centre diocese and the NY archdiocese, Mahoney was assigned to a parish in the Manchester NH diocese 1990-94. Died 12/15/04. Named in two suits 8/19: claims of abuse 1971-74 of a St. Barnabas student, ages 11-14. (Plaintiff also accused Rev. Edward R. Andrea of abuse 1975-78.); claims of abuse in 1968 of an altar boy, age 10, at St. Barnabas. On the RVC diocese’s list in 3/21, noting abuse allegedly occurring many locations.
