Ordained: 1965
Status: Accused

Diocese: Archdiocese of Boston MA

Assigned to St. Martin’s in the Boston archdiocese in 1965 when he allegedly groped a 14-year-old boy. The abuse is said to have occurred when he took the boy and his brother to his family home in NH to shovel snow and chop wood. Martin’s alleged victim reported the abuse in 2002. Martin took leave in 2000 and resigned in 2001 from his position as pastor of the church where convicted child molester Chris Reardon worked; he had been accused of ignoring complaints about Reardon. Per 8/11 Boston archdiocese’s database, accusations were found unsubstantiated. Retired; privileges still restricted in 10/15.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
