Fr. James E. McCarthy
Parish priest, ordained in 1947. Pastor 1967-1977 of St. Stephen’s; pastor of Most Holy Redeemer 1977-1984. Retired in 1984 “for health reasons.” Chaplain for a number of Irish organizations. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 11/2019 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing an altar boy, age 10, beginning in 1973 and continuing for three years. McCarthy died 6/11/1991.
