Fr. Herbert J. McElroy
In massive civil suit filed 10/01/03, 27 victims alleged abuse by 24 priests, including McElroy. One man claimed abused by McElroy 1954-55. McElroy was basketball coach; some abuse said to have occurred on sports trips. Per 10/03 article, whereabouts unknown. The 1993 and 2002 Catholic Directories show him as “Retired.” Settlement 10/17 as part of the diocese’s compensation fund. On diocese’s list in 2/19. It notes that McElroy died 1/3/04.
