Maryland Province. Allegations first public in 11/10. Taught at Scranton Prep 1961-83 and 1985-86. Held various positions at U. of Scranton 2002-06. Chaplain summers 1965-83 at Georgetown U. Hospital. In 1990 his niece reported that he “hugged her in a sexual manner” in 1959. Removed in 2006 after earlier allegation became known; was living in Jesuit community in a monitored setting. Allegation in 2008 that he touched a 10-year-old girl in a sexual way in 1963 in Scranton. Deemed credible. McLaughlin admitted ‘there may be other victims of similar sexual misconduct’ in the Scranton diocese. Included in 8/14/18 PA Grand Jury Report. Added to Baltimore list 9/18. On Scranton diocese’s list 8/19/18. On MD Province’s list 12/17/18. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 11/20 of raping a 7-year-old girl in 1972, while he was assigned to St. Ignatius in Kingston. Died in 2019.
