Fr. Thomas E. Meiring
A man filed a civil suit in 2/2006 alleging abuse by Meiring 1967-1969, when he was age 15 and Meiring was a Toledo priest. Meiring denied the allegations. Asked to be laicized in 1983; not granted until 2016. Worked as a licensed counselor and clinical supervisor with transgender people and youths with gender-identity issues. Case dismissed in 3/2008 due to the statute of limitations, but the diocese and parish remained as defendants. Still licensed and working in 10/2019. Included on the Diocese’s list. Died 4/15/2022.
