Monsignor. Accused in 2/19 by two women who said the were abused as children in the 1960s and 1970s by Melton, Msgr. John McGann (later bishop), and Rev. Robert L. Brown while all were assigned to St. Agnes parish. One of the women said she was also abused by John Hanlon, the parish janitor. Both women said that in one incident in 1967, when they were age 11, they were fondled when passed around the laps of the priests in the rectory at a Christmas party. Melton is deceased. The women and the brother of one of them filed suit against the diocese in 10/19, claiming abuse as children by the St. Agnes staff members.
