Fr. Daniel F. M. Millard

Ordained: 1952
Status: Sued

Died: 05/27/1973
Diocese: Diocese of Camden NJ

Named in a RICO pleading filed in New Jersey in 1994. A woman alleged that Millard, her uncle, sexually abused her beginning when she was age five in 1957 and continuing for 8 years. She said her sister, who died in 6/2020, was also abused by Millard. The sister’s son acknowledged to a reporter that his mother told him Millard had sexually abused her. Other relatives were angry about the allegations by the woman against “Fr. Dan” and cut off contact with her. Millard died 5/27/1973 at age 50. The woman filed suit 2/4/2020 against the Camden diocese. Per the diocese, the allegations could not be deemed credible because there were no other complaints in Millard’s personnel file and because of “statements from [his accuser’s] relatives.” The same woman alleges abuse by Sr. Eileen Shaw from the age of 15.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
