Placed on leave in 1993. Charged with criminal sexual contact for fondling a youth. Put his hands down the pants of the youth at a party in the rectory, celebrating Morel’s elevation to Monsignor. Convicted in 1994. Sentenced to six months probation. A second accuser came forward with similar allegations. Also accused in a 1994 lawsuit of abusing a boy for eight years, beginning when the boy was age 9 in 1973 and ending in about 1981. Lived without restrictions at St. John Vianney Residence for Retired Priests in Rutherford, NJ for several years. Died 9/20/99. On archdiocese’s list 2/13/19. Multiple victims noted.
