Murphy’s name appeared on a list of 21 priests accused of abuse which the District Attorney released in 9/2002. Per the list, there were three alleged victims with claims beyond the statute of limitations. Worked at St. Patrick Parish until he left for a mission in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, in 1966. Returned to Massachusetts around 1971, assigned to St. Mary’s in Taunton. Worked in the Archdiocese of Anchorage 1982-1992. Included on the Anchorage diocese’s list of credibly accused, with allegations of sexual misconduct with minors 1965-1971, noting that Murphy was laicized in 2012. The Fall River diocese’s list in 1/2021 shows that his laicization was in 2006. Murphy died in 2020.
