Fr. Jeffrey L. Nowak
Pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians in Cheektowaga when suspended from ministry in 8/2019 after allegations of inappropriate contact with children and harassment of a seminarian. Reportedly to be sent to a treatment center for assessment. He denied the allegations. The Diocese’s list of accused in 9/2025 shows Nowak to be on administrative leave as the investigation continues. In 7/2026 Nowak was criminally charged with the receipt and possession of child sexual abuse material. A judge ruled that Nowak was to be kept in jail due to strong evidence against him and allegations that he threatened to offer up family members to other pedophiles.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
