Fr. John A. Oliver
Reportedly in 2002, Oliver molested a 14-year-old boy in 1967 after picking the boy up, who was hitchhiking home. Instead of taking him home, Oliver drove him to a house, gave him alcohol and molested him. The incident was reported to police. Oliver pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 6 or 7 years’ probation. He was kept in ministry and later elevated to monsignor. He was placed on leave 5/2002. A sheriff’s report from the case included a comment suggesting prior cover-ups by the Diocese. Oliver supervised credibly accused priest Robert Trupia. Included on the Diocese’s list of credibly accused. Died 3/26/2011.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
