Fr. Michael Paraniuk
Diocese: Archdiocese of Cincinnati OH
A man told the archdiocese in 1995 that Paraniuk abused him in 1983. Archdiocese investigated and decided allegations were unsubstantiated. The man complained again in 2004. Paraniuk was placed on leave in 3/05 after payment made to his accuser from archdiocese’s victims’ compensation fund. He was reinstated in 10/05 after archdiocese investigated and again deemed allegation unsubstantiated. Paraniuk denied all allegations and said he had himself been fondled by two Franciscan priests when he was in his 20s in the 1970s.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
