Fr. Charles A. Ribaudo
Monsignor. Placed on leave, then “retired” in 2002 after allegation that he had molested Michael Hands as a high school student. Hands went on to become a priest and in 2002 pled guilty to abusing a teenage boy. Hands claimed that a church official offered him cash if he promised to keep quiet about charges against Ribaudo, one of the diocese’s best fund-raisers. Ribaudo, Priest O in the Suffolk County Grand Jury Report, admitted in therapy that he had abused “at least 12 boys.” Died 8/13/16. Lawsuits filed in 8/19: claims of abuse of a 17-year-old, who was a student at Holy Trinity in Hicksville, 4/69-6/69; claims of abuse of a child, ages 15-16, at Holy Trinity High School in 1977. Included on the diocese’s list of accused in 3/21.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
