Roche’s niece told archdiocese officials in 1992 that he had abused her in the 1950s when she was ages 5-12. He denied the allegations and the church took no action. Per personnel records released in 2/03, church officials knew in 1992 about prior sexual misconduct, including 4-5 relationships with women in MA and NC. Before his 1997 death, Roche admitted to abuse of his niece and reached a financial settlement with her.
