Fr. Foster P. Rogers
Assigned to St. Pius X Church in Chili, NY when suspended by Bishop Clark in 5/2002 after a man alleged that Rogers molested him at age 16 in 1975. Another man also came forward to say that he had complained to the diocese in 1993 about earlier abuse by Rogers. Voluntarily laicized, per 6/7/2012 statement from the Diocese. In 2020 a man sued Rogers, alleging that the priest sexually abused him at age 15 in 7/1979. The man claimed Rogers had offered the boy a ride, then abused him in his car. Rogers did not contest the allegations. A jury at the damages trial awarded the man a $95M settlement in 5/2023, although Rogers had little money and the man was unlikely to receive much.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
