Fr. John Joseph Schutty
Schutty was a De La Salle Christian Brother for 31 years prior to his ordination to the priesthood in 1983 at age 51. As a Christian brother Schutty taught in numerous locations, including Kansas City, Minneapolis, Chicago, Santa Fe, New Orleans, St. Louis and St. Joseph MO. He was pastor of St. Cecilia’s in Meta, MO when placed on leave 3/29/2006 due to an allegation of the sexual abuse of a minor, occurring over 20 years prior. The Diocese announced in 12/2006 that its review board found the allegations to be credible. Schutty was then removed from ministry. His name was included on the Diocese’s list of accused 11/8/2018.
