Fr. Patrick O. Sexton
Complaint made in 1983; underwent counseling. A man filed a civil suit in 2001 alleging abuse as a minor 22 years prior. Total of three accusers known by 6/02. In a massive suit filed 10/1/03 in which 27 people alleged abuse by 24 priests, a male plaintiff alleged abuse by Sexton as a child around 1982-85. Placed on leave in 1990. Worked as a part-time parochial school teacher until 2000. Removed from ministry 6/25/04. Laicized 4/7/06. New suit filed in 7/21 under the NY Child Victims Act by a 52-year-old man alleging Sexton abused him as a 10-year-old altar boy at St. Cecilia’s in Greenpoint.
