Absent on leave from 6/1982. Died in 1983, age 41. Found murdered in Houma LA in 7/1983. Was last seen 4/19/1983. Smith reportedly had been living in Houma and was working with an offshore food catering company. Named publicly as credibly accused by the Diocese on its list 3/19/2019. Allegations were reported in 2003 of abuse allegedly occurring 1972-1980.
