Fr. Edward Statkus
From Lithuania, where he was ordained in 1938. Arrived in the U.S. in 1950, lived with his brother in Cleveland OH. Assigned briefly to a parish in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Invited around 1951 to work in the Diocese of Grand Rapids; incardinated in 1967. Died in 1999. Named publicly in the MI Attorney General’s 12/15/2025 Diocese of Grand Rapids Report. In 2008 a man reported to the Diocese that when he was 15 in the mid-1960s, Statkus sexually abused him in Roscommon. He said that Statkus showed up drunk at his family cabin, had him drive to the liquor store for a case of beer, then molested him.
