Taught at Boston College High School 1971-1980, then Cheverus High in Portland ME 1980-1998. Claims in 1998 that Talbot abused a student in 1984-1985. Suspended. Sent to St. Luke’s Institute in MD for treatment. Claim settled in 2001. Allegations by at least eight men in 2002 that he abused them as minors 1972-1980. Criminal charges were filed but dropped. Fourteen claims were settled in 1/2003 for $5.2M. Pleaded guilty 2005 to raping two teenagers 1977-1979. Sentenced to five to seven years. On sex offender registry. Released from prison 3/18/2011. Living at Vianney Center in Dittmer, MO. Laicized in 2013. Indicted in 11/2017, accused of the sexual assault of an 8- or 9-year-old boy in Freeport ME between 5/1/1997 and 6/14/1998. Pleaded not guilty 12/1/2017. Pleaded guilty 9/24/2018. Sentence to 10 years’ prison for gross sexual assault, with all but three years suspended, and a three years concurrent sentence for unlawful sexual contact. Reportedly admitted at a Massachusetts Parole Board hearing to abusing 89 boys. Included on the Jesuits Northeast Province list of credibly accused 1/15/2019. New suit filed in 4/2021. Talbot died 2/28/2025 at a hospice center in St. Louis.
