Fr. Stephen J. Titko

Diocese: Diocese of Gary IN
Reportedly in 7/2025, in 9/2002 Titko went on leave of absence without ministry, then was allowed limited ministry by the Vatican in 3/2005. From 10/2005 to 5/2018 he worked for the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma, Ohio. Per the Diocese of Gary, Titko’s ministry was further restricted in 2020, which the Vatican upheld in 2024. The Diocese did not inform the public until 1/2025. It stated that Titko’s faculties had been removed due to sexual misconduct beginning in the 1980s with the grooming and manipulation of a minor. Titko appealed to the Vatican; his appeal was rejected. His name was added to the Diocese’s list of priest offenders in 1/2025.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
