Visiting priest from the Diocese of Tampico, Mexico. In 10/2025 the Archdiocese of Chicago made public an allegation that Tovar-Trego sexually abused a minor in Chicago years prior. Archbishop Capuch said the priest occasionally celebrated mass at Maternity of the Blessed Mother Church in Humbolt Park without permission during short visits. Tovar-Trejo was suspended by his home Diocese pending an investigation of the allegation.
