Deacon Rogelio Vega

Ordained for the diaconate in 2011. First assigned to Most Holy Trinity-St. Mary in Williamsburg, then to St. Sebastian’s in Woodside in 12/2015. Arrested in 1/20/2021 after arranging to meet an undercover detective for sex, whom he thought was a 14-year-old boy. Vega met the “boy” on Grindr, described as a gay hook-up site. Suspended from ministry. Investigators found evidence that Vega enticed other boys for sex, identifying three of them. Pleaded guilty in 9/22. Sentenced in 3/23 to 16 years in prison.
