Fr. Sam Wagner

Ordained: 2014
Status: Accused

Diocese: Diocese of New Ulm MN

Placed on leave and investigated after allegations in 1/2017 of “inappropriate conduct” were reported to the New Ulm police. Per news in 8/2017 Wagner was accused of an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old girl. No charges per police in 8/2017 due to lack of evidence and the inability to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Wagner was still on leave pending a Diocesan Review Board investigation outcome. The girl’s mother took out a restraining order in 8/2017 against Wagner. In 6/2025 Wagner’s name does not appear on the Diocese’s website as a member of its clergy. His status on the Diocese’s list of accused remains “investigation pending.”

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
