In 3/2002 a man gave the Worcester County D.A. a written confession from Walsh regarding having sexually abused the man beginning in the late 1970s, when the man was a minor. Walsh had been serving as chaplain with the MA state police. Walsh admitted the abuse and was removed from police and parish duties in 3/2002. He resigned in 2003. The Diocese had known of the abuse since 1998 when Walsh’s victim reported it in a letter. Walsh denied it at that time. In 2012 Attorney Mitchell Garabedian announced that he had settled a lawsuit(s) alleging abuse by Walsh. Walsh died 3/8/2021.
