Fr. Edward F. Ward
Diocese: Diocese of Portland ME
Monsignor. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 12/22 of sexually abusing a 9-year-old altar boy at St. John’s in Bangor in 1966. Ward died in 1997, age 96. Ward’s accuser claims the abuse happened multiple times, and that the school principal, who was a nun, walked in on them on one occasion. The man said he told the principal about the abuse a few days later and she slapped him on the hands and chastised him for lying.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
