Fr. William F. Waters
Accused publicly in 4/19 of the abuse of a boy, ages 8-10, in 1987-90. His accuser said he was also abused at age 10 by Rev. Peter Gori, O.S.A. in 1990. Both priests were at either St. Augustine’s in Lawrence or Andover. Waters denied the allegations. He had been transferred several years earlier to the the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In 4/20 the order announced that an independent investigation found no evidence to support the allegations and that Waters would be reinstated. Gori was also exonerated and returned to ministry.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
