Fr. John T. Wielebski

Ordained: 1978
Status: Accused

Diocese: Archdiocese of Baltimore MD

Ordained for the Trinitarians. Incardinated into the Baltimore archdiocese in 1988. Removed 12/18/2009 from his assignment at Resurrection of Our Lord in Laurel after separate reports by three men that he sexually abused them as teenagers in the mid- to late- 1980s. All three were “troubled” and were seeing Wielebski for counseling. The Archdiocese delayed its announcement about the allegations until 1/10/2010 to allow police to complete an investigation. Wielebski moved to Las Vegas after in 6/2010. Archdiocesan files indicate that the Archdiocese knew of issues with Wielebski with boys, and that there were more than three victims. The Vatican determined he was not to be laicized because canon law states that a minor is under the age of 16. The victims were ages 16-18 when first abused. On Baltimore’s list of credibly accused 7/23/2019. On the Belleville diocese’s list 9/20/2022. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General’s Report.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
