In 1/23 a man stated publicly that Wilkes was his father, and that he sexually abused him and his siblings. The man said that Wilkes was part of a group of priests who would cross the river into Mexico and have “their way with” prostitutes and children. The Official Catholic Directory shows that Wilkes was an active priest 1950-1956, after which his name no longer appears. News articles show that Wilkes became Unitarian minister in 1958, having worked as of 1966 in Boston MA, Washington DC, Albuquerque NM and Dallas TX. He died in 1979 in McAllen TX.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
