Today the Diocese of Cleveland has learned that Father Daniel R. McBride, a retired priest of the Diocese of Cleveland, pleaded guilty in an action before The Cuyahoga County Court. This case was a personal matter and was never connected with the exercise of his priestly ministry at any of his assignments since his ordination to the priesthood on April 28, 1951.

When the Diocese became aware of the allegations against Fr. McBride last July, he was immediately placed on administrative leave. As a priest on administrative leave he is not permitted to exercise any public acts of priestly ministry and has removed himself from his Church residence. His status, in light of today’s action, will be determined in accord with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Charter for The Protection of Children and Young People, the Essential Norms, and our diocesan policy “For the Safety of Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse.”
