Elevated by Archbishop of Santa Fe, N.M., Last Week

The Register, a church organ published at Santa Fe, N.M., carried the news Friday that the Rev. Fr. Clarence Schoeppner, son of Mrs. John Schoeppner of Templeton, IA., has been appointed chancellor for the archdiocese of Santa Fe and at the same time transferred from the chaplaincy of St. Michael's school to the chaplaincy of St. Catherine's Indian School at Santa Fe.

The Rev. Fr. Schoeppner was ordained to the priesthood in Rome slightly more than a year ago. Upon his return to the United States and to his home in Templeton he was given a large reception and numerous activities surrounded the celebration of his first mass in the community of his boyhood.

Leaving directly for Santa Fe, he became the secretary to His Excellency, the Most Rev. Rudolph A. Gerken, archbishop of Santa Fe, which appointment he held until the transfers last week elevated him to the chancellorship of the archdiocese.
