  Brother Jack O'Dell

Mass for Brother Jack O'Dell, 59, a onetime physical therapist who joined the Clerics of St. Viator at the age of 51 and served for six years as a counselor and pastoral minister at St. Viator High School, Arlington Heights, will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd., in the suburb. Brother O'Dell died Tuesday in Rush-Presbyterian- St. Luke's Medical Center, where he had been enrolled in a training program to become a hospital chaplain. Brother O'Dell, who grew up on Chicago's South Side, had served in the Army and worked as a physical therapist at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, in Taylorville, southeast of Springfield, for 17 years before joining the Viatorian order in 1980. From 1980 until 1987, he was at St. Viator High School, 1213 E. Oakton St., Arlington Heights, where he directed religious retreats and served as a counselor. He is survived by a brother and three sisters.
