The trial of a Roman Catholic priest accused of fondling three young boys last year is scheduled to begin this week in Macomb County Circuit Court.

The Rev. Lawrence Nawrocki, formerly pastor of St. Isidore Church in Macomb Township, is charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree. He will be tried separately on each count.

According to arrest warrants, the alleged incidents took place during the fall of 1987 and involved boys ages 11 and 12. Two of the alleged incidents took place while the boys spent the night at the parish rectory and the third in church before a mass.

Nawrocki, 43, who is free on $30,000 personal bond, has been living "under the immediate supervision of his regional bishop" since his arrest last year, said a spokesman for the Archdiocese of Detroit.
