  Dilla, Rev. Francis E.

Rev. Francis E. Dilla arrived in this world singing on February 23, 1937, and entered eternal life on February 2, 2005. He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Chicago, May 1, 1953. Father Frank served the people of St. Cyril and Methodius (1953-1958), St. Joseph (1958-1964), Holy Rosary (1965-1970), Assumption B.V.M. (1970-1975), and served as the pastor of his home parish, Sacred Heart Slovak (1975-1993) until retirement in 1993. He served in many Slovak organizations and Catholic Groups. He was the chaplain of Kurdel Cigoi American Legion Post. The Lord called Father Dilla after and extended illness in South Bend, Indiana, near his cottage in new Carlisle, 21 days before his 78th birthday in the 52nd year of his priesthood. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Queen of Heaven Chapel and his internment at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery took place on February 7, 2005. Father Dilla was the son of the late Karol Dilla and Maria Lehman; brother of the late John (late Ethel), the late Charles (Mary), the late Emil (the late Rena), the late Aloysius, the late Stephan (the late Florence), the late Theresa Madura (the late Edwin) and is survived by his sister, Sister Carolita O.S.F.; fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews and his adopted family of Estelle Bielecki and (late Edwin), their children and families. As Father Dilla would say, "you and yours, having left your footprints on my heart, are God's choicest blessings to me."

A Mass for Fr. Francis E. Dilla will be held at Our Lady Of the Woods Church on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at 11:30 a.m., luncheon buffet to follow. The church is located at 10731 W. 131st St., Orland Park, IL. May flights of angels sing to thee to thy rest.
