SYRACUSE — The Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Furfaro, 93, of Syracuse, died on Monday, March 29, 2010.

He was born on May 5, 1916. He received his bachelor's degree from St. Bernard's Seminary in Rochester. He served as an assistant at Our Lady of Pompei Church, Syracuse and as pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Oswego for 42 years. He received his second master's degree in psychology and a certificate in advanced studies in psychology from SUNY-Oswego. He served on the Oswego City School District Board of Education for 21 years and served on the SUNY-Oswego College Council for two terms.

He is survived by two sisters, Ann of Camillus and Lucille of Boonville; sister-in-law, Diane; and several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent J. Furfaro and a sister, Florence Furfaro.

Private funeral arrangements have been made at the convenience of the family and are under the direction of the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, 300 S. Peterboro St., Canastota, NY 13032. Contributions may be made to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
