My name is Marcin Burek. I am 27 years old. What drew you to the United States to prepare for the priesthood? In 2007, I spent the summer with my cousin, Fr. Marian Kokorzycki, at St. Mary of the Lake in Lakewood. While I was there I worked at the parish cemetery and was active in the parish life of the Polish community. I liked it very much and decided I would like to be a priest in the United States. What seminary do you attend and what year did you enter the seminary? St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, MD. Currently, I am in my second year of theology. Prior to the seminary I: I was studying, working in a glass factory and volunteering in my home parish in Poland. Some of my interests are: I like many sports, especially soccer. I like to travel and see different places. The first time I thought about a priestly vocation was: After completing high school. How do you pray, what is your prayer life like? Besides Mass, I like to read the Scriptures and pray the Rosary. What excites me about being a priest is: I like to work with young people and help them see their gifts and that they are called to use these gifts to serve God and others. What do you enjoy about seminary life? I like the community with the priests and other seminarians. It is interesting to learn about all their different faith experiences and to see how God calls us all in different ways. If someone is considering a vocation to the priesthood I would tell them: I would tell them to pray about it very hard, try it, and if you are not sure just keep praying and God will show you where he wants you to go. A couple of books on my shelf, CD's I own or songs I have downloaded are: Crossing the Threshold of Hope and The Seven Storey Mountain. Scripture passage that inspires me is: I John 3:18 Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and < truth.
