Rev. James J. McGinnis III , M.Div., 62 Former Pastor of Our Lady of Hope Church Rev. James J. McGinnis III, M.Div., 62. Passed away October 26, 2010 at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby. Born and raised in Philadelphia to Helene J. McGinnis (nee Monroe) and the late James J. McGinnis Jr.. Fr. McGinnis was former Pastor of Our Lady of Hope Church, 5200 N. Broad St., Philadelphia and served as Parochial Vicar at various parishes in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He earned his Masters of Divinity from St. Charles Seminary and was ordained into the priesthood at the Cathedral Basilica of SS Peter & Paul in May 1978. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and also served as Chaplain in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a 1966 Graduate of West Catholic High School and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Fr. McGinnis was very devoted to his family and his vocation. He was pre-deceased by his father James J. McGinnis Jr. and his brother Thomas F. McGinnis. Survivors: He is survived by his mother Helene J. McGinnis (nee Monroe) of Milmont Park; brothers Daniel (Eileen), Joseph, John (Christine), William (Jennifer) McGinnis; his sisters Helene (Stephen) Purol, Susan (Daniel) Murphy; also his aunt Joan Park; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Service: Reverend Clergy, family and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass Saturday 11 AM in The Chapel of St. Francis Country House, 1412 Lansdowne Ave., Darby, PA Visitation: Viewing 9:15 till 10:45 in the Chapel Burial: Saints Peter & Paul Cem.
