WOONSOCKET- Rev. Robert A. Carpentier, 71, of Cottage St., Woonsocket, was taken home to his Lord on Wednesday May 9, 2012 surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Anatole and Cora (Armstrong) Carpentier.

Rev. Carpentier was ordained a Catholic Priest on June 3, 1967. He was an avid sports enthusiast, loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love of life.

He is survived by his sister, Rita Ducharme of Woonsocket and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paul A., Joseph P., Marcel E. and PVT 1st Class Lucien Carpentier, Solange Laliberte and Simone Lefort.

His Funeral will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 8:45 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Church, 685 Steere Farm Rd., Pascoag. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 314 Wrentham Rd., Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Friday from 4 - 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Brothers of the Sacred Heart Church, 685 Steere Farm Rd., Pascoag, RI 02859 or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
