Our Executive Director


Born in Rochester, NY in 1942, Fr. Chappell entered the novitiate of the Order after graduation from Villanova University in 1964. He professed first vows in 1965 and was ordained in Rochester by

Archbishop Fulton Sheen in 1969. He holds a Masters in Theology from Augustinian College, a Masters in Sociology from Catholic University of America and a Licentiate (S.T.L.) and Doctorate (S.T.D.) in Sacred Theology from the University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He served for eight years as Secretary and Treasurer of the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova. He served for two years as Director of Mount Augustine Apostolic Center on Staten Island. Fr. Chappell taught theology at Biscayne College (Miami, FL) where he was also Director of Student Activities. Fr. Chappell also taught theology at Merrimack College (North Andover, MA) and Villanova University where he also served as Chair of the Department of Theology and Religious Studies for ten years. He spent one year as a hermit.

In 2005 he was commissioned by the Province to revitalize Augustinian Press, where he serves as Executive Director.
