Anthony A. Petrusic

Passed away peacefully at the Conemaugh Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Born in Johnstown, PA, son of Stephen and Sophie (Stipancic) Petrusic. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Sophia and Helen Petrusic, and Mary Stenger; brothers, Frank, Joe and Robert Petrusic; dear friend Father James Gaughan; nephew Jack Petrusic and niece Stephanie Petrusic. Last survivor of his immediate family. Survived by primary caregivers Sharon Petrusic Burnheimer and Connie Petrusic Wiegand along with 13 other nieces and nephews, 24 great nieces and great nephews and 11 grand nieces and grand nephews; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Sandy Petrusic. Also survived by many extended family members in Galup, NM; Hollywood, FL; and Omaha, NE. He touched the lives of people all over the world and especially his native heritage in the Croatian Community. He was a loving and forgiving servant of the Lord. A 1949 graduate of Johnstown High School. St. Augustine Seminary, Kansas City, 1949-1951; Conception Seminary, Conception, MO, 1951-1953. Received his degree in Theology from Mount St. Bernard Seminary, Dubuque, IA, 1953-1957; Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Creighton University 1962 in Omaha, NE. Ordained to the priesthood on May 11, 1957 at St. Cecilia's Cathedral in Omaha. Celebrated his first Mass at his home parish of St. Rochus Church, Johnstown on May 12, 1957. Pastoral assignments of Saints Peter and Paul 1957-1958; St. Elizabeth Seton Churches in Omaha; St. Bernard Catholic Church in Florida. Director and Instructor of Guidance and Religion at Archbishop Ryan High School 1958-1963. Instructor of Philosophy and Theology at the College of St. Mary, 1961-63. Vice President of Nebraska Catholic Educational Association. Member of Diocesan Priests Advisory Board of Creighton University, member Associate Board of Regents of the College of St. Mary. Director Religious vocations for the Archdiocese of Omaha. 1965 Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese. Chaplain at St. Catherine's Hospital. Author of "Lift Up Your Hearts", prayer books. Former National Spiritual Director of the CCU of the US and Canada and Past president of the Croatian Catholic Union, Hobart, IN.

Private viewing at the request of the family. FUNERAL MASS at 11am Saturday at the Resurrection Parish Church, the Rev. Alan Thomas, committal Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fr. Anthony A.
