Alla devozione eucaristica e mariana, coltivate con semplicità e costanza, univa la passione per le vocazioni e l'affetto per il Beato Fondatore: un'ora d'adorazione eucaristica quotidiana era dedicata ad ottenere sante vocazioni per la Congregazione. Aveva una cura particolare per gli ammalati, li visitava in casa ed era fedelissimo alla visita negli ospedali.

In occasione della celebrazione dei cinquant'anni di vita sacerdotale scriveva: "Non so come ringraziare il Signore per la sua bontà infinita, per tutte le grazie che mi ha concesso durante questi cinquanl'anni di vita sacerdotale e missionaria scalabriniana. Possa la Madonna Santa, che mi ha sempre accompagnato ogni giorno e in ogni luogo della mia vita sacerdotale, continuare a guidarmi, sostenermi e confortarmi fino alla fine, come il nostro santo Fondatore le chiedeva ogni giorno". Nello scorso mese di giugno aveva partecipato con gioia ed impegno al corso di formazione permanente scalabriniana in Casa Madre.

Lasciò scritte nel quaderno del corso, il 29 giugno in Piacenza, queste righe: "Ho terminato la mia corsa, ho conservato la fede. È bello seguirti con fervido ardore". Quasi presagendo la fine, univa la serena coscienza del lavoro compiuto all'entusiasmo missionario del discepolo di Scalabrini.
