BOSTON -- A former FBI official hired by Catholic bishops to oversee compliance with their new national sex abuse policy is meeting with leaders of the Boston archdiocese.

During the two-day visit to Boston, Kathleen McChesney met with officials working on victim outreach and the church's prevention programs.

McChesney also met Thursday with James Post, president of Voice of the Faithful, the lay Catholic group formed after the clergy sexual abuse scandal erupted in Boston.

Group spokesman Michael Emerton said the meeting was a get- acquainted session to learn what the other is doing, and how they can work together.

McChesney is the former assistant director of the FBI's law enforcement services division.

Church spokeswoman Donna Morrissey has not commented on the substance of the meeting.
