o the Editor:

Re "Priest Convicted of Molesting Girl, 12, at Her Home in 1999" (news article, Feb. 6):

As a member of Voice of the Faithful, I would hope that the conviction of the Rev. Francis X. Nelson for second-degree sexual abuse indicates a new seriousness in bringing sexual abusers and predators to justice.

That hope is dimmed, however, by the fact that only two cases out of a possible 25 were able to be brought because of the statute of limitations.

It is time to consider updating this archaic law so that other criminals can be brought before the criminal justice system. These horrific acts perpetrated on the innocent cry to heaven for justice.
