  Vermont Priest Misconduct Investigation Continues

Capital News [Vermont]
May 11, 2003

The Vermont Attorney General's office is still investigating charges of misconduct against eight recently practicing priests.

Attorney General William Sorrell said investigators hope to complete their work by the end of May or early June on the priests who were active in ministry.

Last year, Vermont's Catholic Diocese handed over files concerning alleged misconduct.

Sorrell doesn't anticipate charging anyone criminally because he said the claims found credible are too old to prosecute.

But Sorrell said in some cases his office has shared concerns with the diocese about the fitness of some priests to be in active ministry
