OGDEN, Utah (AP) - The Rev. Mario Arbelaez Olarte pleaded innocent to a misdemeanor charge of enticing a minor over the Internet on Tuesday in state court.
Olarte, who was arrested after chatting online with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old boy about meeting, will have a pretrial hearing on June 24.
Olarte has been placed on administrative leave by St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He said that he was doing research about the evils of the Internet for a sermon when he arranged to meet the officer posing as the boy at an Ogden street corner.
Defense Attorney Bernard Allen did not return a phone call Tuesday from The Associated Press.
