A 49-year-old Roman Catholic priest who had served at St. Andrew's Church in Daly City was arrested on charges of child molestation, Daly City police said Tuesday.

Jose Superiaso, who was ordained in the Philippines, was arrested on 25 counts of child molestation and his bail has been set at $2.5 million, according to police. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.

The investigation began when a 20-year-old woman reported that a priest in a Daly City parish had molested her from July 1994 through November 1995 at a private residence used to house priests at the time, police said. Superiaso has also served at Our Lady of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Belmont and Our Lady of the Pillar Church in Half Moon Bay, police said.

People with information are asked to call detective Joe Collins or detective Ron Harrison of the Daly City police at (650) 991-8119.
