(Bridgeport-AP Dec. 18, 2003 8:00 AM)_ Two organizations involved in helping victims of abuse by Roman Catholic priests claims Bridgeport's bishop is ignoring church rules.

They claim Bishop William Lori is not abiding by the no tolerance policy by allowing a priest accused of molesting a 17-year-old girl 25 years ago to continue to serve in a parish.

Monsignor Martin Ryan, of Saint Edward the Confessor in New Fairfield, has denied the allegations.

Church officials have repeatedly said he is not a threat to children and should not have his good name marred.

The case was brought to the diocese's Sexual Misconduct Review Board, which said Ryan may have had celibacy issues as a young priest, but was fit for ministry today.

A spokesman for the diocese said last year that Lori accepted the board's recommendation and kept Ryan in his position.
