  Testimony Continues in Eichoff Trial

KOTV [Tulsa OH]
October 14, 2004

Testimony resumes Wednesday in a lawsuit surrounding a 25 year old allegation of sexual abuse. Tulsa Reverend Paul Eichoff says he did not sexually molest Kelly Kirk at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in the late 1970's. Now the priest is suing his accuser for slander and libel. Eichoff filed suit in August of 2002 after the Church put him on administrative leave.

A Catholic review board found the claims had no merit, and reinstated him. Supporters of the alleged victim say they stand by their case.

Eichoff was among three current or former Tulsa diocese priests accused of abuse in the summer of 2002. No charges were filed in any of the other cases. One priest, the Reverend Kenneth Lewis, resigned in July of 2002 as pastor of a McAlester Church.

Another, the Reverend John Jangam , worked at St Mark's Catholic Church in Pryor.

He was excommunicated for revealing details of a confession and returned to his native India.

The case is expected to wrap up this week.
