	Diocese of Ferns 'Pays ˆ200,000 to Abused Student Priest' The Post [Ireland] July 21, 2005 The Diocese of Ferns has reportedly reached a 200,000 settlement with a man who was sexually abused while a student priest in Wexford town. Reports this morning said the payment was made earlier this year to a local priest who alleges he was abused by Fr Donal Collins, the former president of St Peter's seminary in Wexford. Fr Collins was jailed for a year in 1999 for sexually assaulting four boys in the 1970s. The Diocese of Ferns has been at the centre of several sex scandals which, according to this morning's reports, have already cost the diocese 2.79m.
